Wesley Fofana has ended the controversy by insisting Enzo Fernandez is not racist. Saying his Chelsea team-mate just wanted an explanation as to why Argentina’s chant aimed at France had to be so hurtful.
Fofana was not forced to speak but has asked the club if he can speak to journalists covering their US tour.UFABET
After training in Atlanta, he told why he forgave Fernandez two weeks. After he described Argentina’s Copa America championship celebrations on a bus as racist on social media.
Fernandez returned to Chelsea’s camp on Monday. With the £106.8m midfielder immediately apologizing in a team meeting and pledging to donate a significant sum to anti-discrimination charities.
However, Fofana said education was more important than money. Because he did not want to see the same tragedy that hit Chelsea repeat itself.
“You see Enzo is back and I’m happy.” said Fofana, one of six French players in Chelsea’s touring squad.
“We talked, I explained why I didn’t like the video. He explained it, he apologized because he didn’t mean to hurt the French fans or anyone. He didn’t understand the singing.”
“And I believe him because I know him, I know Enzo. He’s not racist, it’s just that the video is bad. It’s not just Enzo, it’s the Argentine national team. Enzo is in the video. But if he was from another country, I would have posted the same thing. Of course, it’s a big deal because we play in the same team.”
“But now it’s over, it’s good. I’m happy with the situation because he understands me, I understand him, he apologized, I believe him and that’s the most important thing. Enzo is an important player for Argentina, I hope this has taught him a little bit more because of course it’s a different culture.”
