Manchester City have been fined more than £2m for delaying the start of 22 Premier League games over the past two seasons.

The club admitted they breached Premier League rules by delaying the start of games. Or delaying the start of the second half without permission on multiple occasions.

The penalties range from warnings to fines of up to £200,000. With the longest delay being a two-minute and 46-second delay of kick-off in a 3-1 win over West Ham on May 19, 2024. As the club win their fourth consecutive Premier League title on the final day of the season.

Their 1-0 home win over Newcastle on 19 August 2023 saw the start of the game and the second half delay. While 12 of the offences over the two seasons have come from home games.

The Premier League’s disciplinary committee is expect to consider 115 charges against Man City for alleged financial misconduct later this year. Some of which date back to 2009.

Some of the allegations relate to money paid to Manchester City by sponsors Abu Dhabi.

The club has consistently denied these allegations. Claiming to have irrefutable evidence to support them.
