Hoffenheim goalkeeper Oliver Baumann was delight and proud to make his debut for Germany and finish the campaign off with a clean sheet in Monday’s 1-0 win over the Netherlands in the UEFA Nations League, Sky Germany reports.

But when the 38-year-old goalkeeper announce his retirement from international football, while Marc-Andre ter Stegen was unfortunately sideline by a knee injury.

So the opportunity was open for another goalkeeper, before Julian Nagelsmann opted to send Baumann in front of Alexander Nubel, and the 34-year-old did not disappoint, making several crucial saves as the Germans edged past the Dutch side.

‘It was great. The day and the game UFABET were perfect. Playing for the national team was a dream come true. I’m very proud of that,’ Baumann said. ‘It was really fun there.’

Head coach Julian Nagelsmann’s assessment of Baumann’s performance will not have deterred his mood in the slightest.
